Approximately 3 to 3 and a half hours.

Tour Route

The walk offers a great way to see the best of Holyrood Park. Following a circular route from the Broad Pavement Carpark, the tour will visit many important sites which offer spectacular views of the city and countryside. These include:

St Anthony’s Chapel
Arthur’s Seat
The Queen’s Road above Duddingston Loch
Samson’s Ribs
Salisbury Crags
At each stage your guide, Dr Nathan Hood, will share his in-depth knowledge about the park’s ancient residents and their Arthurian connections.

Note: though we will do our best to follow this route, due to weather conditions there may need to be alterations to the tour for safety reasons.

Additional Information

The walk is strenuous. We will cross rough ground and climb steep inclines. The tour may not be suitable for disabled people.

Even on sunny days there can be strong winds and rain. Please come with suitable clothing: good walking boots, a light rain jacket etc.

Please also bring a drink and a snack.

The tour is not suitable for children under 12.
